Industry & Marketing
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a mandated
that selected major urban areas of thirty-three states and the District of Columbia meet certain clean air standards by conducting vehicle emission tests.
MARKET -
The major metropolitan areas of the thirty-four states affected by
the EPA mandated emission testing law represents about 50% of
the U.S. population. In 2003, approximately 87 million emission tests were conducted, resulting in an estimated annualized revenue of over $2.2 billion dollars.
The industry is highly fragmented. There is no company operating
vehicle emission testing/safety inspections only on a national basis.
MARKETING
STRATEGY -
Increase store throughput in the testing stations by developing:
- An on-the-street direct sales organization that develops business with the retail consumer and with the large fleet customer for the new and used car business.
- Local, state and federal government contracts, as well as corporate
contracts for those industries that have large fleets of vehicles
like cable, utility, pest control, landscape and security.
- Create a standardized and uniform look with respect to the station
color-scheme, signage, uniforms for the employees
and the complete customer experience.
